Throughout my career, I have personally recruited several talented individuals for my own teams. However, in my most recent role, I became increasingly frustrated with traditional recruitment agencies. Too often, these firms felt more like sales operations than true partners, pushing their services without a genuine understanding of the industry’s intricacies. I observed that essential elements such as attention to detail and client service had taken a backseat in their approach.

Determined to find a better solution, I took it upon myself to handle the recruitment process for my last five positions. This hands-on experience was not only rewarding but also eye-opening. I quickly realised that many of my colleagues in the accountancy field were grappling with the same challenges.

This insight prompted me to take action and ultimately led to the creation of Thomas Shaw Recruitment. My goal is to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, ensuring that client service and industry comprehension are at the forefront of my approach.

What sets me apart is my 16+ years experience as an accountant, having worked in both practice (within the Big 4 and mid-tier firms) as well as in industry where I was working as a Finance Director. This background gives me a strong ability to not only assess technical skills but also determine whether a candidate will be a good cultural fit for the role and the client.
